My Top 5 Podcast’s

Posted by Hugh | Posted in Internet Marketing | Posted on 27-11-2008

I have been listening to Podcasts now for about 10 Month’s or there abouts, but something rather strange happened (well, to me, anyway!) within the last 24 hours, I was talking to Lynn Terry On Twitter (http://twitter.com/lynnterry, I would recommend you follow her, if you are on Twitter!!), about Podcasts and how she had been losing out on some really great free Podcasts available through Apple iTunes, this led onto Lynn asking me for my favourite Podcasts.

So here is my Top 5 Podcasts On iTunes (In Reverse Order):-

  1. Marketing Online Live - with Alex Mandossian and Paul Colligan - Alex Has taught over 12,000 Teleseminars since 2002, and no it’s not a misprint.  The Thing I like about Paul is (following text from his blog) At all times, I only recommend products I use - or would tell my Mom to use. You have my promise there.  Paul is another great Podcast, I’ll tell you about that later though!
  2. Internet Marketing | Podcast With Mike Filsaime - If you have been interested in Internet Marketing for longer than two weeks you more than likely already know who Mike Filsaime is.  But If now go to about Mike Filsaime.
  3. FrequencyCast UK TV and Tech - Now I couldn’t let a Post about Podcast’s go by without mentioning my favourite  UK Tech Podcasters, Could I?  Why?  Put simply I love the way Carl & Pete have fun and joke about on the show!
  4. Internet Marketing Secrets Podcast - I love this as it gives you a great all round experience of Internet Marketing but at times very advanced but none the less I find it enjoyable.
  5. Internet Marketing This Week - OK, why have  I put this at #1, they have some of the biggest names in Internet Marketing World on the call Live with them, so if they say something that doesn’t quite ring true one way or another, Ed & his band of friends, which include Paul Colligan, Lynn Terry & Michelle MacPhearson are on hand, I am not sure but it is as though they are Consumers rather than Internet Marketers although they do Major Internet Marketers, (Brand New Podcast, 5 Weeks old and it is already in the Featured Top 10 in iTunes!!  Talk about amazing work!!) I love the style of the show and with Four main co-presenters, the show is kept lively!!

Sorry, It has been so short and sweet, I am still trying to get comfortable writing . I am not a great writer especially as I have been up for 24 hours and so!!

Another great book by Alex Jeffreys - The Guru’s Dream!

Posted by Hugh | Posted in Internet Marketing | Posted on 30-10-2008

I have to say I took most of yesterday off to read this great new book, The Guru’s Dream, and it has put a rocket up my backside.

Why?

Well, just lets put it this way I have not had a great start to my internet marketing career, why, I have been trying to take your maoney rather than giving you value!  I have seen the errors of my ways and from now on, I’ll be giving all of my content away for the forseeable furture, yep for the next 6 - 9 months.

When I produce

  • videos
  • ebooks
  • audios
  • blog content

I’ll be giving it away for free!

Now I will at times be asking you for your name and email address, but I hope you understand why i’ll be doing this?

For now.

One more thing, Comments, I would love to hear your comments on this!

List Building, it’s not only for the big guys

Posted by Hugh | Posted in Internet Marketing | Posted on 20-10-2008

Now I admit, I am far from the best at list building but the main thing I can tell you is I am ACTIVELY building my list at present, Yes, the money is in the list or more importantly, the money is in the relationship with your list!!

With that said I have made a video to show you how I am building my list using giveaway events, Please forgive me as when I shot the the video for you I had a rather bad cold, I had to stop two or three times to cough, I got through it eventually.

At the end of it, I forward the page to a very low priced product ($5.95), this can show you how to set up your autoresponder properly.

List building with free giveaways video

Here is the details of the giveaway I used in the video, I invite you to become a member of the Fair Rainbow GiveAway, a different Spirit! A logical evolvement of the GiveAway concept.

I hope you enjoyed the video and I would like it if you could leave me some comments below.

Review of Post Launch Profit Secrets

Posted by Hugh | Posted in Internet Marketing | Posted on 07-10-2008

If you have ever read, listened to or watched a free info product and thought why did I bother wasting my time with that, you have not seen or heard one of Alex Jeffreys free offerings.

His Post Launch Profit Secrets has raised the standard of free.  It contains extreme value, in that if you act on what is contained in the audio, you could experience making a life changing amount of money on the Internet.

Now we have all heard the term ‘the money is in the list’, well Alex Jeffreys takes this concept and explains how anyone can create a list.  Not just any list, but one that is highly responsive and loves getting their wallets out every time you find a product that you think is worth recommending.

In this free audio the information that Alex gives away is phenomenal.  He takes you step by step describing how he found out about this proven money making system.  Then he goes into great detail on how we can do it ourselves, without having to pay out the thousands of dollars that Alex did to set him on the path of success he is on now.

Along side him on the audio is Michael Cheney who also gives some invaluable insights into the very same money making system that makes him millions too.

Alex does like to mention a few famous internet marketers’ names and talk about places he has been too, but it is all par for the course and doubles as inspiration for those of us listening and desiring that internet marketing lifestyle.

If you are anything like me, you will be thrilled with information contained within the audio, as it has helped me develop a master plan of success.  Hopefully in 8 weeks I too will have the beginnings a list to be proud of and be able to shoot off an email and make money.   I’m sure that sounds good to you too!

Google neglecting your site? Add a blog.

Posted by Hugh | Posted in Internet Marketing | Posted on 10-09-2008

How long has everyone been telling you that Google loves blogs? Months? Years? Well, it’s true, and I wanted to share an experience that helps reinforce that truth to you.

The Blog That Resurrected My Rankings

I had a site devoted to a particular type of exercise equipment. The site was in the top 7 results for its keywords in Google for over six months. Unfortunately I had server problems and the site went down for a few days. Google crawled the site constantly because it was well-linked, and so big G knew instantly that the site was down. Since it stayed down for a few days, Google must have decided it wasn’t coming back up, and its rankings plummetted.

After the site did come back up, it reappeared in Google, but this time on the third page (ranking 25 - 28 for its keywords, on average). Its original page one rankings just wouldn’t come back. I shrugged it off as a lesson learned and basically forgot about the site.

Early last week, though, I was testing a tool I’m creating that helps you write and post blog posts to Wordpress blogs super fast. I decided to setup a blog on the site that lost its rankings, just to test it out. I made a bunch of blog posts (they were post-dated so they would show up slowly over time), and sat back to see what would happen.

To my surprise, over the weekend my site jumped back onto page one for its rankings. I hadn’t touched that site in months, and now it’s ranking better than it ever was — at #4 for 3 great sets of keywords. This, of course, has spiked my AdSense earnings for the site.

Another nice benefit of the new blog is that the blog itself is getting some additional traffic from Google, even though the blog does not have any external links directly to it. Google is applying the authority of the site itself to the blog. Since the site is well-linked, the blog is given a bit of “trust” by Google and is appearing in the search results as well.

Scraper Sites Can Help You Rank

On a related note regarding blogs and traffic, I’ve recently setup a blog that automatically creates a bunch of posts each day based on a variety of keywords. This blog is a test for a larger idea I have in mind, and the test is working great, with the blog having achieved more than 12,000 unique visitors in the last 5 days. The vast majority of the traffic has come from Google.

As part of that same test, I setup a second, similar blog that does the same kind of thing. Despite the second blog actually having more content, it has (so far) received no joy from Google at all (it’s not even indexed yet).

The difference is in the scraper sites that are referencing the content. The keywords that I’m creating content around for my successful blog is a scraper magnet — hundreds of scraper sites are auto-posting content from my own blog to theirs, and giving a reference link back to my blog posts to try and make it more legit.

How do these scraper sites know about my brand-new blog posts so fast? Because the blog is indexed by Google’s blog search, and many scraper sites scrape results from that blog search to post to their own blogs. They also scrape many other blog search engines, and since my blog pings those search engines when I make a new post, the blog’s content gets picked up and spread around fast.

Those links from these automated scraper sites have resulted in my blog quickly gaining hundreds of backlinks from all over the web, and that means great rankings for the pages of my blog.

The second test blog I setup, however, has not attracted the scraper blogs and so hasn’t even been indexed in Google yet. It might seem strange that scraper sites can help you rank, but if they link back to the source of the content, they really can.

Trackbacks Are Your Friend

On a final note, I recommend setting up your blog to automatically post trackback links to the blog posts that you link out to. If you’re not familiar with trackbacks, it’s a simple concept: any time you link to an external blog post from within your own blog post, your blog posts a “comment” to the blog post you’ve linked to, letting the readers of that post know about your own post referencing it.

Now, not all blogs will approve your trackback link, but many will, and I’ve received literally thousands of visitors from a single trackback link appearing on a popular blog. So make sure you setup your blog to automatically post trackbacks to the blogs that you link out to — it can often result in a flood of traffic.
